This Chemise was typical in a wealthy or middle class home during the 1770's

A chemise in the old days was sewn as an undergarment from scrap pieces of fabric. It protected ones everyday clothing from body excretions and was washed regularly. Today the Chemise is survived mainly through lingerie and slips and men’s t-shirts.
